The Hype Hair Studio was created in 2015 by Kristine Templeton. The idea for The Hype began decades ago from the perspective of a Stylist who sought out a space to offer transformative services supported by a team of collaborative creatives.

Kris (she/her) was born in Wisconsin and raised in New Mexico. She has over thirty years of experience working in the industry ranging from salon Owner, Director of Education and behind the chair. Now she dedicates part of her time to developing her team as the in-house-educator and career coach. Kris specializes in short cuts, natural grey grow out, traditional highlights and trendy mature styles.

Bek sanders
Bek (she/they) was born and raised in New Mexico. After completing her Bachelor’s at the University of New Mexico, they spent a year abroad in Europe before joining the Leadership team at The Hype in 2018. Bek is The Hype’s in-house career coach, specializing in emotional intelligence and career success. Bek is also the Student Advisor with Destroy The Hairdresser, a coaching company for hairstylists. by hairstylists.

Dellyna (she/her) was born and raised here in Rio Rancho, NM. She took interest in cosmetology early into her teenage years. After high school, Dellyna went to school at NM Tech for 3 semesters for Biology, and promptly found out it was not where she wanted to be. Instead, she decided to follow her true passion and pursue cosmetology at The Aveda Institute of New Mexico. Now, she loves being able to connect with guests while doing their root touch ups, bold fashion colors, balayages, and long-hair haircuts!

Kayala (she/her) is originally from farmington, new mexico, and relocated to albuquerque in 2021 to attend aveda institute.
Kayla has passion for all things color, from balayages to vibrant creative colors, and is bellami extension certified. kayla's favorite part of the industry is the relationship between stylist and client, and witnessing a client's confidence grow when their dream hair is achieved.

Sariah Smouse
Sariah (she/her) grew up knowing that she wanted to do hair. She dreamt of being a stylist that can boost a client’s self-esteem by sitting in her chair. Sariah is a firm believer in the saying “look good, do good.” Your hair contributes a lot to the way you see yourself. She loves blondes and the low maintenance of a lived-in color. Adding a few pops of brightness or changing your color overall can enhance your natural beauty.
Her goal is to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, and important during your appointment. When you leave, you’ll look good and be ready to do good. She is excited to have you in her chair!
